Kevin's Corner: Event: WRITERS' GUILD OF TEXAS MONTHLY ...

WRITERS' GUILD OF TEXAS MONTHLY MEETING

Monday, 18 March 2013

7-8:30 p.m.

Topic: Effective Blurb Copy

Speaker: Sally Felt

Richardson Public Library

900 Civic Center Dr.

Richardson TX 75080

Basement Room

Effective blurb copy is crucial for self-published authors, but it's also important for querying/pitching to editors and agents and lining up promotional interviews. Knowing how important it is doesn't make it any easier for most of us to do. Using examples from various genres and 30 years of copywriting experience, author Sally Felt will share techniques, tools and tips to help writers feel better prepared?or at least more inspired?to write a selling blurb.

Sally Felt built a thirty year career as an advertising copywriter, creating brochures, web sites, ads and speeches for an international clientele. To live life more purposefully, Felt downgraded her full-time responsibilities, and now uses the extra time to conduct playshops, which help others find their own map to fun and to write books filled with characters who are learning to leap. In addition to writing, speaking and adventuring, Felt takes on freelance copywriting jobs from time to time. Her erotic romance novel "Going Native" was published in January 2013.
