It's Sir Jony To You: Apple Design Chief Jonathan Ive To Receive Knighthood

Apple Design Chief Jonathan Ive will be made a knight, the BBC reported Friday.

Ive, known as ?Jony,? will be able to use the title ?Sir? before his first name.

The senior vice president of industrial design at the Cupertino, Calif.-based computer and smart phone company will become made a Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Ive joined Apple in 1992. His career at Apple blossomed under Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who retook the top job at the company in 1997. Jobs died October 5.

In a biography penned by Walter Isaacson, Jobs described Ive as his ?spiritual partner.?
